Cycle carrier information and FAQ’s

Carrying bikes when travelling has become incredibly popular as people wish to go exploring through the countryside more and more when they arrive at their holiday destination. Cycle carriers have evolved over the years and now come in various forms. Still the most popular way of carrying bikes is to use a roof mounted system. Most popular in this field is the Thule pro-ride, Thule free-ride and the Mont Blanc Barracuda. All these cycle carriers are able to safely and securely transport children’s and adult bikes.

Becoming ever more popular in the last 12 months are the towball mounted systems which leave the roof of the car free to transport other luggage or for a roof box. Thule and Mont Blanc have brought out a range of products that provide a solution for carrying up to a maximum of four bikes. These carriers are extremely secure and are ‘rock solid’ once in place. They even fold up to next to nothing depending on which model you buy.

Despite being the most expensive of the Thule bike carriers, the Euroclassic Pro 903 remains our best selling product from the range. With its ability to be adapted to carry up to four bikes and incredibly sturdy deck with integral lighting, the Euroclassic 903 is a product we are sure you will not be disappointed with.

FAQ’s about bike carriers.

1) Will it carry adult and children’s bikes?

Yes, all the bike carriers are adjustable so that children’s cycles can be transported with or without adult bikes.

2) I have a ladies bike without a cross bar, will I still be able to use a hang on system?

Yes, with an adapter, a ‘false’ cross bar can be created meaning the bike will hang like a male version bike.

3) Does the carrier lock the bike to it?

If you view the comparison charts, all the bike carriers will be compared and you can see whether your particular model locks the bikes to the carriers.

4) How many roof mounted bike racks will I get on my own car?

This all depends on the size of the car but at a squeeze most cars will fit up to four. This is made easier by reversing two of them to face backwards.
