Which Electric Kit Do I Need?
If you are only using the tow bar for a trailer or caravan then you will need a single electrics kit (12n)
If you are towing a caravan with the refrigerator running then you will need a double/twin electrics kit(12n & 12s).
How do I know if I need Multiplex wiring? - Multiplex wiring was bought out in about the year 2000 for vehicles with engine management, meaning cutting into the rear lighting loom could lead to potential damage to such things as the engine management system. To find out whether you have a multiplex plug you can locate it in the rear of the car, (usually near where you would change a rear light bulb), it will look like an un-used loose hanging plug, or the other way of checking is by ringing up your main dealer / manufacturer and they can tell you if your vehicle has engine management by your registration number.
Please Note: Our Universal Multiplex Kits (ZK3000a & ZK3020a) will require you to cut off your OE plug and then wire your coloured wires into our kit.
